The fact that Tottenham were playing in the Champions League last year due to the fact that they finished fourth in the league the year before that actually led to their league position suffering and they consequently didn’t qualify for this year’s Champions League. That means that I would imagine they will nick the fourth placed spot this season due to the fact that Arsenal will be competing in this year’s tournament and so will have to divide their attention between their European and domestic campaigns. Also, Arsenal have had their midfield decimated by the departures of their captain – Cesc Fabregas – and their most creative player last season – Samir Nasri – while Spurs were able to hold on to Luka Modric despite a summer of Chelsea attempting to lure him away with the promise of Champions League football and big wages.
